I’ve said for a long time: the tech world likes to reinvent magic every few years. It can be exciting, but it’s also really dangerous when we wave the wand, tell people not to worry about things behind the curtain, instead of taking time to explain, and educate everyone. Transparency is key.
Magic can sometimes be very similar to snake oil.
(apropos of nothing specific, just *gestures wildly* you know, everything, right now; no exact point, just talking half-formed ideas into the ether)

کسی هست که فرصت داشته باشه حرفهایی رو که در ویدیو زده شده به متن فارسی تبدیل کنه و به عنوان نظر زیر ویدیو بنویسه که بعداً بشه ترجمهاش کرد؟
کلاً ۱۰ تا ویدیو هست که هر کدومش بین ۱ تا ۶ دقیقه است. امتحان کردیم و ابزارهای اتوماتیک تبدیل صدا به متن (دستکم در این مورد) خروجی خوبی ندارند.

@ozoned I would try Deep-L. You can photograph text and it will read and translate it or you can type it into a window to get a translation. I don’t know how it would work on videos.

This is probably an odd request, but as the owner and operator of TubeFree.org I want the platform to be as open as possible. But only speaking English I'm VERY limited in reviewing videos.
Does anyone know a translator that could help with persian? Or a tool?
All of the tools I'm finding don't support it and I have someone that uploaded some videos in Persian.
It appears to be a debate or discussion about Iran. I'm absolutely compelled the to leave the video up, but I would love to know the discussion.
ANY help is appreciated. Including if you think you know a friend of a friend or a tool that might work.

I decided to make an infrastructure investment today. For the @owncast instances I host on behalf of folks in the community (including @JenJen and @ozoned), I will soon be piloting AV1 as the video codec to replace H.264, with the intention to fully switchover if things go well with testing. AV1 requires a lot more computational compute to encode than H.264, so a GPU is effectively a requirement.
