Node.JS and I are NOT friends. HOWEVER ... there's a docker container thankfully. But I'm checking with Julian to find out the recommended install method.

This is why I NEVER got into webdev. I'd ask friends how to make anything and the answer was always

"Use this framework for X and use this other framework for Y."

Me: "What about Z?"

Them: "Oh you need 10 more frameworks for that! SEE! IT'S EASY!"

This is an interesting question. They're two completely separate software stacks. NodeBB is for federated forum servers. While Bonfire is more a roll your own community social network server. What would you imagine this looks like? What would be your end goal with a plugin in Bonfire? Not judging at all. It sounds like an interesting idea to be sure. 😊 And you have the folks that could work together to make something happen if there's an idea there.

But chaos is fun! And we get to learn so much! Looking at the docs, it should be smooth. So that means I need to find ways to create CHAOS! 😁

@julian@activitypub.space if one of us doesn't end up crying and balled up in a corner, then I haven't done my job properly. 😁

@gnilleps@mastodon.art @julian@activitypub.space I hope it'll be fun and educational. 😁

@johannab@cosocial.ca I shall do my best to remember. 😄

Dear Fedi friends,

Yesterday I posted a toot about #WSocial on this account (I typically talk about them on Mastodon, but I needed more than 500 characters, so I switched here). It was widely shared and discussed.

Some of you may have missed my articles critiquing W Social. I have been following them - with a critical eye - and collecting evidence since their soft launch at Davos in January: https://blog.elenarossini.com/tag/w-social/

Anyway, some of you mistook the tone of yesterday's toot and thought I was ENDORSING signing up for an account on W Social. In reality I was being sarcastic 🙃

I will make sure to spell out my intentions much more clearly next time.

At any rate, my latest article about them made it to Hacker News yesterday (wild) and my research has been quoted in Dutch, German and French news outlets. The tide is finally turning (from fawning PR coverage to a more distanced, critical look).

Thank you for your support as always! ❤️

Anyone thinking of going to All Things Open 2026 in Raleigh NC?

A few folks and I are discussing some kind of Fediverse meet up and attempting to have conversations around the Fediverse. #ATO2026 #Raleigh #Open #Fediverse

@_elena@mastodon.social I try. I don't look so great in the cheerleading skirt, but gotta do what I gotta do. This reminds me, I need to look into getting a kilt. They seem very comfy.

A trio of bees on flowers from 2023, in acrylics.

I want to make some ceramic flower frames, but still figuring out the logistics. #painting #bees #MastoArt

@_elena@mastodon.social thank you so much for your passion and love. We're all stronger with you here.
