#FootpathFriday

When someone walks down the sidewalk before you can shovel it.

A shoveled sidewalk curling into the distance, with snow-covered grass on the left and on the right, and with shoe-shaped prints walking a path down the sidewalk.

One of the ladder climbs at Bandelier.

#FootpathFriday #hiking #NewMexico #ruins

A cliff made of tent rocks of soft light colored tuff/pumice rock with lots of air holes. In the center of the photo, looking small because of the distance above the camera position, is a ladder leaning at about 45 degrees with a person climbing up it. Above the top of the ladder is another ladder going farther up, and you can just see the tip of a third ladder above that, which ends at the mouth of a cave. The cave is in another layer of rock, redder and harder but still holey and volcanic. There's a trail with a metal railing leading from the left edge of the photo to the bottom of the lowest ladder.

From the archives to show that, yes, is does sometimes snow a bit in the Puget Sound lowlands. Today is not one of those days since temps near 60 are expected.

It turned a bit wet today but I found time for a short bimble…after a haircut, brunch and visit to a lovely tree nursery. I resisted buying plants that I don’t yet have a place for and came back with only what I went out for.

Anyway, some snowdrops and a #FootpathFriday

A photo of a footpath through deciduous woodland. There’s a cluster of snowdrops beside the path on the left. To the right is a wooden rail fence.

#Today 06

Good day!

My last hike was longer and higher, but I also took my pack and poles. It was like old times.

“He isn’t dangerous. He wears a muzzle because he eats poop. It’s embarrassing.” A woman referencing her black lab.

I can attest, he was friendly.

Be everwell.

A trail winds through a conifer forest, rising and falling, the ground tinted orange from all the needles on the ground. There’s some brush, but not much, making visibility through the trees unhindered. The sky, barely visible, is cloudy.

Three years ago I turned a corner on a hiking path and was utterly delighted to see this groundhog standing on its back legs. We quietly startled each other then went our separate ways.

A groundhog (large rodent with coarse, grayish-brown fur, rounded ears, short legs, dark nose and eyes) stands on its back legs on a dirt path near the orange-painted legs of a safety barrier sign.
