The main architecture is up and running now.
Lemmy, WriteFreely, Castopod, today I'll get WordPress multisite running; my current site on shared hosting, runs a singular website where I created multilingual through "FullSiteEditing" WordPress feature; but it's quite difficult to maintain in long-term so 2 sites with 2 languages will make it better.
Now I have upgraded my hosting plan to Hostinger kvm2, and associated my VPS to the huge lifetime 10TB cloud I have, for podcasts. PCloud, through rclone. Next phase will be WordPress, then maybe to point various services to the right domain (plusbrothers.net and not .online). Most passages have been done via command line, and to find the right commands I've used google gemini. Here in Monterey County, more than half of school-aged children speak Spanish as their primary language at home.
It saddens us that in some U.S. communities, it’s come to this:
"As some children ran down 146th Ave playing with sticks, a woman stepped out of her apartment and told them not to speak to each other in Spanish”
[for their safety / to avoid drawing attention to themselves and their families].

I'm looking at statistics on multilingualism among USians. Apparently 3/4 of USians are monolingual. I can't find detailed statistics, but I'm pretty sure the 1/4 are almost entirely immigrants and the children of immigrants. I suspect that among white, non-Hispanic USians whose parents were born in the US, monolingualism is probably 95% or higher. Is it lower on Mastodon? #language #bilingual #multilingual
