Jesse Jackson was the first (almost) mainstream American politician that tried to bring Palestinian human rights into that mainstream of American politics. He failed at that, but AOC, Tliab and Omar and Bernie could never have gotten where they are today without him paving the way. This only shows how rigid and Zionist American politics is and has been for a long time.

@jd Exactly right, Jesse Jackson opened the door to a future that wouldn’t have been possible without him. The path he paved reminds us how rigid and biased American politics has been, but thanks to him, Palestinian voices began to find space in U.S. politics. Respect to everyone who paves the way for justice, even if they don’t succeed on their own.
