🕶️ A view of its user interface (on my Linux PC) with a view of the Earth, using bump mapping and also showing the clouds and blue halo of the atmosphere around the Earth, with the Hubble telescope in the foreground, all in real time on an ordinary PC configuration.
📚️ Gaia Sky is a libre, multi-platform, real-time 3D astronomical visualization tool, developed for ESA's Gaia mission to map 1,46 billion stars in our galaxy, within the Gaia group of the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut (ZAH, Universität Heidelberg). It features galaxy and asteroid exploration, 6D exploration (star positions, proper motions, radial velocities), planet surface exploration (procedural generation of surface, clouds and atmosphere). It offers advanced H.R. graphics (virtual textures, reflections, shadows, etc.), 3D support (6 stereo modes including VR), several 360° projection and planetarium modes, data import, real-time filtering, SAMP compatibility, gamepads, camera paths. Finally, it's scriptable, extensible and internationalized.
