I built it against the microblog-iverse and only after that was done did I realize the threadiverse model also fit.
Think of NodeBB as straddling the fence between the two. We speak both AP dialects, there shouldn't be any major implementors were incompatible with.
@julian@activitypub.space @nelfan@gotosocial.social that's awesome. Hopefully someday we'll be able to bring the "dialects" together. And I love the term calling then dialects. Fits so well.

The answer comes a bit late because I have been struggling with this awful heathbell.
I have read a lot about @bonfire and although I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, it seems to me that it's a perfect harbour for self-aware communities with a global vision and permanent goal.
On the other hand, I have already had the chance to try #Nodebb.org and I have seen it's a brilliant tool to work on specific or special projects or campaigns. So my idea was to combine both and use Nodebb.org as a special permanent workshop integrated into a larger commune house.

With the power of the Fediverse you could run both and when you post on one you can view it on the other. I think. NodeBB is threadiverse, so there are some quirks, but prettysure it works. But I don't think you could join them directly.
Yes to Bonfire being great for communities.

@lich_silvae@masto.fediverse.games thank you. Surgery is the 22nd. So soon hopefully. Outpatient surgery so hopefully it is an easy recovery.
@TCMuffin@toot.wales thank you. Yeah it sucks. I'm fortunate. I'm mentioning it because I'm sure there's a majority that could afford it. But hopefully something can change.
And I'm looking forward to resolving it. Just in tune for Fedicon in Aug as well.

First of all I had no idea you had that going on, so I’m sorry to read it and glad you’re getting care! The system and affordability is dreadful for folks.
Absolutely the kind of thing that could be fixed and made more accessible for all, not just those able to pay from their own resources - if there was collective will and compassion.
@andypiper@macaw.social Yeah, don't talk too much about my ailments. Went to Disney and it was agony, but kids had fun so that's what matters. 😊
And yeah, Capitalism isn't really about compassion. This just makes me realize how fortunate I am to be able to cover this. But holy shit man. This insanity.

So I need to have surgery. I have Meralgia paresthetica which causes numbness, pain, soreness, etc in my thighs. So the doctor is going to do surgery to snip the nerves so I don't feel anything anymore. It's fairly common actually.
Just got the estimate. For a 2 hour surgery the total is $28,650.87. The insurance covers $19,617.82. I have to pay $2,156.95. I'm very fortunate that I can afford the expense. But this whole system is just not sustainable. Absolutely crazy amount to not be in pain constantly.
