Study suggests that getting your body accustomed to 30 second sprints can help to control panic attack symptoms.
I like the disclaimer at the end:
"Oh, but don't do this if your heart is on the wonk cos it'll likely kill you, m'kay."

Morning run
Terrible that we had to hop south to find good weather. A night in Cumbria got us a good 12k run this morning (with the OAPs paper collected en route as a bonus), All road - still squidgy underfoot on the fell.
Just went for a run to a point 4km NW of my home in Totterdown. It was 5km in total to get there (windy route). Passed through the city centre, Clifton and reached The Downs, before comin back via the Portway and Chocolate path.
Decided to take some pics on my route to share how great Bristol is and how lucky I am to have these great sites near me.

I keep eyeing the folks doing regular 20-30+km runs and want to just go out and do it, consequences be ignored. My brain reminds me the whole point of taking it slow is so that I can go do that very thing in time.
I am debating what I should be doing next. I've settled nicely into the Zone 2 running habit, and I *feel* as handling six days a week, but I think I'll have to cut that down to five as distance increases. Two days off in a row, or two-off-three-off? Things to try. Thoughts?
Well, I had my first setback on my #CouchTo5K.
Today was supposed to be Week 5 Run 3, which is a 20 minute run. In the first couple of minutes I felt a lot of tightness and pain in my right calf (cramp maybe), so I slowed down to a walk. I was going to pack it in, but it loosened up again so I pushed on and started over. I had to take a couple of walk breaks in the middle, so I think I’m going to keep trying this session again every 2/3 days until I can nail it.
Still decent today though. Probably did about 18 minutes of running in total, with about 4 minutes of walking, so not all bad. It’s really stepped up a gear this week so just got to keep pushing myself!
20 minutes of constant running complete! I’m very happy with that! 🤩
Today's run was a short economy pace run. Nothing much to see here.

Gelesen / Read: Scott Jurek—Eat & Run: Pretty solid book. Good recipes, nice anecdotes and a ton of examples of what I would probably not do, like running with broken bones and stuff. Nevertheless, it felt quite relatable. I liked it.

Nice morning at Redcar parkrun today. It was hard work after taking last week off, and my dodgy leg is definitely not happy with me, but the vibes were good as always and I got a new course PB by about 20 seconds so that's not to be sniffed at.
Got home and I've immediately changed into pyjamas and an oodie for the rest of the day. Possibly a nap in my near future 😄
This week's training was not top.
I felt exhausted both mentally and physically due to a lot of stuff going on at work, bringing stress in my mind and body.
I skipped 3 running sessions during the week, shortened 2 others, and shortened my long run today.
This is just what my body needs, I think.
But it isn't easy to accept.
Good morning 🌄
I hadn't run since Wednesday, due to feeling mentally fatigued, so needed a couple of days extra rest for my own wellbeing.
This morning, I deliberately went out a little later, just in the golden hour as the veil of night is pulled back, so no torch required. Today a short 7km, and the only thing other than wearing a short sleeved shirt for the first time this year, was to simply run comfortably...it was a super run

parkrun this morning, but I used it as a chance to do my TrainAsOne 6 minute assessment run. So a slow start, followed by 6 minutes of running flat out and finishing the rest of the 5km, trying to keep my heart rate in zone 3.
So even though I had a sprint in the middle, overall, it was a slow stopwatch time at parkrun today. But, TrainAsOne needs these assessment runs to determine my fitness and pace, so a worthy sacrifice 😊

Today's run was a progression run. A slow pace for 17 minutes, medium pace for 17 minutes and fast pace for 17 minutes, followed by a recorded 5 minute cooldown jog/walk so TrainAsOne can assess my recovery.
(For who don't want to see my running posts, I will always use the #workout hashtag, so you can mute that tag to avoid them)
I left it too late in the morning though, and the temperature had risen higher than I expected, so I struggled with the heat a lot. I hit a HR max of 171, which is higher than I've gone in a long time! I'm carrying extra body fat since covid, and that makes it harder for me to shed heat during hard runs, which I feel on days like today!
One day I'm going to come to terms with the fact that my "fast" pace today is slower than my old training pace, but today is not that day :P
But, I did it!

Week 5 Run 2. Hardest run yet but I pushed through and did it! 💪
Run - 8 minutes
